NUMSA members protesting

On Thursday the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) confirmed that they have readed an above inflation wage agreement which would see workers’ salaries increase by 6%.

Since October 5 there, It is estimated that the steel and metal industry has lost more than R500 million in revenue. This as workers in the industry have been striking around the country for an 8% increase.

Earlier this month the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa called a nationwide strike of all its members. The cost of the strike so far is estimated at R500 million and this figure continues to rise daily.
