As universities reopen, some students continue to remain unable to register. The South African Union Of Students (SAUS) sent a Letter of Demands to Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande. 

 Bursary guidelines for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will be finalised by next week for university students. 

Students funded by NSFAS will have their tuition and accommodation fees covered. Higher Education Minister, Blade Nzimande assured students during a media briefing on Thursday morning.

Following a request for more funding for NSFAS, the Cabinet has approved to give NSFAS more money. 

Cabinet has approved more funding for NSFAS. This comes as many students wait to receive feedback about their NSFAS applications. 

Minister of Higher Education, Blade Nzimande has confirmed that all returning students will continue to be funded this year.

Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande hosted a media briefing on Monday to talk about funding decisions for 2021. 

The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr Blade Nzimande, said the government bursary scheme is in the process of finalising outcomes.

National Students Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will be cutting funding from some programmes this year but there are other options for students who qualify for the national support scheme.

NSFAS applications were scheduled to close on 30 November 2020, but after receiving more than 600 000 applications, a new application deadline has been set.
