The stimulus was launched in October 2020, in response to the impact of Covid-19 on the country's economy. Through the Presidential Employment Stimulus, government has created various employment opportunities in the public sector. |

The Department of Basic Education has extended contracts for teaching assistants. This extension applies to teaching assistants based in the Free State. The contracts, which were due to end March, will now end on 30 April 2021. Free State MEC for Basic Education, Tate Makgoe confirmed the extension. |
