Since the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) reopened applications for the special Covid-19 R350 Social Relief of Distress Grant, more than 3.7 grant applications were declined.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has approved more than 8.3 million special Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress Grants since the applications were reopened last month.

On Sunday night President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed South Africans on the current state of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country. In his speech, he also provided an update on the Special Covid-19 R350 Social Relief of Distress Grant.

Applications for the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant are now open. The grant has been reinstated from 6 August until March 2022.

Last Month the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) started processing payments of the special R350 Social Distress of Relief Grant. They had aimed to pay all of the successful applicants by the end of August.

Once you've submitted your application for SASSA's R350 Social Relief Of Distress (SRD) grant, you can track it on Whatsapp. This one of the few platforms that SASSA has given applicants as an option to track the progress of their applications.

SASSA has opened a window to allow applicants to change their payment method for the temporary R350 grant. Applications for the grant opened on 6 August and over 11 million applications have been received since then.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has recently announced that just around 11.5 million people have applied for the Special Covid-19 R350 Social Relief of Distress grant. If their applications are approved they will receive their R350 grant.
