Millions of South Africans applied for the R350 grant when it was first introduced in 2020, but now many will be left looking elsewhere for income as it comes to an end.

Sassa has reassessed more than 4000 Temporary Disability Grant applications since making the call for applicants to reapply. Regional Executive Manager of SASSA KwaZulu Natal, Themba Matlou made a few visits to local offices to check on the progress that was being made. 

Sassa has encouraged beneficiaries of the temporary disability grant to appeal the recent suspension of the grant. 

Sassa has suspended over 200 000 temporary disability grants. This has affected many applicants who applied for the grant due to illness or injury. 

Government is in talks to replace Sassa grant beneficiary cards. This comes after Sassa faced a security breach 2 years ago.

Beneficiaries of the temporary COVID-19 SRD grant are asked to use the SRD website for services such as correction of names, cancellation of the grant, appeal outcome of the declined application, and changing of bank details.

If your application for the Sassa R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant was declined, you can now appeal for a review. This new SRD portal is an addition to Sassa's email channel which has been used to process appeals. 

Two of Sassa's grants will be lapsing soon, as the extension date given earlier this year is now near. A statement has been released, explaining what will happen to beneficiaries and caregivers. 

Sassa has released payment dates for December as November comes to an end. These payment dates include older persons grants, disability grants and all other grants.
