Covid-19 vaccine with needles

More than 10 million adults in South Africa are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19. This translates to just above 25% of the adult population living in the country.

Last week the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines were authorised for use in individuals younger than 18 years old. Despite this, The Minister of Health, Dr Joe Phaahla says the focus remains on vaccinating adults in South Africa.

The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) has announced that the Pfizer Comirnaty Covid-19 Vaccine has been approved for individuals 12 years and older. In a statement released by Sahpra, they say that their decision is limited to the safety, quality and efficacy of health products and not due to procurement decisions.
