The National Treasury has implemented the 2023 Tax Acts, enacting changes proposed in the Minister of Finance's annual Budget Speech. These Acts cover adjustments to tax rates, excise duties, and administrative procedures, now in effect as of 22 December 2023.

The 2022 individual filling tax season is nearing it’s end, making it the shortest one to date. Taxpayers have been encouraged to submit their tax returns before the deadline.

The annual tax season commenced on 1 July and is in full swing. For most taxpayers, this time of the year is usually associated with a considerable amount of stress as they deal with the pressure of having to file returns by a deadline and then worry about whether and how much they will have to pay over to the government in taxes. Then there is also the ever-present fear of being audited, which adds another layer of anxiety to the mix.

Taxpayers are required to pay taxes on their income, and each taxpayers tax rate will differ. For example, taxpayers that work for a company may be taxed differently than someone who works as an independent contractor.
