Despite The South African Revenue Service (SARS) declaring that they are pleased at the amount of people who have submitted their tax returns, they have decided to extend the tax filing season.

The South African Revenue Services have called on citizens in the country to submit their income tax returns before the November 23, 2021 deadline. 

Last month, the Minister of Social Developmentpublished a green paper on Social Security and Retirement Reforms for public comment. One proposal in the green paper would have raised eyebrows around the country. The paper was subsequently withdrawn without an explanation but has started a debate around a basic income grant.
