The Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) was introduced to support workers who lost income during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the support mechanism was abused by individuals who were not entitled to relief.

 


Aimed at helping employees with lost income during the lockdown, Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) funds were plundered by several unscrupulous individuals.

 


Several relief measures were introduced to support citizens during the Covid-19 related lockdowns, however, some people took advantage of this and decided to use social relief initiatives to enrich themselves.


When the Covid-19 pandemic reached South Africa, the country was placed into a hard lockdown. This severely impacted people's ability to work and generate income.


The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) acknowledged that many workers in South Africa lost income due to the Covid-19 related lockdowns. This saw the introduction of a new relief scheme offered by the fund.


The Covid-19 related lockdown meant that many South Africans lost income as they were not able to work.


The Temporary Employer/Employer Relief Scheme (TERS) was introduced to assist people financially during the Covid-19 pandemic. 


Due to a shutdown period, the Unemployment Insurance Fund will soon pause the processing of payments until January 2022. 


Many workers lost income due to the Covid-19 enforced lockdowns. The South African government established the Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) to supplement the lost income of these workers.

The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) has thanked employers for rectifying mistakes made in their application for the Temporary Employer / Employee Relief Scheme (TERS).
