The University of Cape Town (UCT) is readjusting its teaching and learning framework in preparation for the 2023 academic year. These plans were revealed after the regulations related to the Covid-19 pandemic changed.

 


In 2021 a fire engulfed parts of the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) upper campus. The devastating blaze destroyed one of the university’s libraries which housed irreplaceable collections of published materials, artworks and archival collections.

 


One South African university is hoping to assist adults who have not obtained their matric certificate. This comes as they recently launched an online high school.

 


The Covid-19 pandemic disrupted many aspects of what was considered normal, including the way children attended school. One South African university embraced this new normal and will now offer an online high school programme for students around the country and the world.

 


Minister Higher Education Blade Nzimande recently revealed that of every one hundred children who begin Grade 1, only twelve will enrol at a university and half will complete a qualification. Not all of those who graduate will secure employment.

 


The University of Cape Town (UCT) condemned the actions of protestors who disrupted an examination session on Monday. In a video shared on social media, protesters can be seen entering an examination venue and throwing examination scripts to the floor.

The current Chancellor of UCT is Graça Machel, the fifth person to hold the position. The post of Vice-Chancellor is currently held by Dr Max Price, who is responsible for the leadership of the university.
