Concerns have been raised about the number of people choosing to leave South Africa. More skilled South Africans are taking the plunge and choosing to emigrate to other countries, taking their valuable skills with them, especially the youth.

The 2023 Budget Speech has highlighted key aspects as to how some of South Africa's socio-economic challenges will be addressed and dealt with. However, not everyone is satisfied with what was outlined by the Finance Minister. 

Section 41(4) of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act 75 of 1997 (the BCEA) relieves an employer of the duty to pay severance pay in circumstances where the employee who is dismissed for operational requirements "unreasonably refuses to accept the employer's offer of alternative employment with that employer or any other employer".

South Africa's youth are continuously dealing with the impact of unemployment and how difficult it is to successfully find a job. In order to alleviate some of the struggle, President Cyril Ramaphosa is requesting a change to job application requirements. 

Gauteng's Premier believes that the only way for jobs to be created is through the developing of skills, particularly through industries such as Civil Aviation. 

A new grant is in the works at the National Treasury. This grant would provide additional support for those on the hunt for a job, as finding a job is a job itself. 

South Africa is known for its shockingly high rate of unemployment that looks bleaker everyday. But, a small ray of hope has changed that. 

People have been living longer than previous generations, which probes the question of whether 60 is a sufficient retirement age. However, not everyone has the option to retire and still require a steady income for their survival.

South Africa's youth unemployment is a major cause for concern and only seems to escalate. But, there might be light at the end of this dark tunnel in the growing digital sector, which can create job opportunities for the country's young people.

Women and the youth make up half of the country's population, yet they suffer the most with poverty and high unemployment rates. 

Canada-based tech start-up, CostCertified, has announced the opening of their new headquarters in Cape Town’s city centre. Providing a first-of-its-kind cost estimating software for the residential construction industry, CostCertified joins over 550 firms in Africa’s Silicon Valley.

In the first quarter of 2022, Statistics South Africa (StatsSA) revealed that the unemployment rate increased to 63.9% for people aged 15-24 years old. On the other hand, unemployment stood at 42.1% for the 25-34 age group, prompting government to find ways to combat youth unemployment.
