Despite the obvious benefits of RPL Learnerships, many organisations do not currently offer them to their staff. This could be because the process seems daunting and admin-intensive. This isn’t however the case at all.
“CBM Training’s RPL Learnership is easy and painless to implement”, says Christopher Hersov, Managing Director of CBM Training Pty Ltd.
Recognition of Prior Learning was formed to offer previously disadvantaged individuals a chance to be assessed in order to qualify for a national certificate that is recognised by governing boards.
This verifies that staff have acquired or possess theknowledge, experience, skills and are competent in their position and therefore should be allowed to receive a qualification without having to do further formal studying or training.
RPL Learnership offered by CBM, aimed at administrative staff and office workers, consists of a pre-qualification questionnaire, guided group discussions, projects during the 6 intensive days followed by a wrap-up half day session spread over a 12 month period.
CBM provides all learners with resource kits for each module and an experienced assessor to assist the assessment procedure on each day.The learner will receive a National Certificate in Business Administration Services if found competent in each area.
This particular RPL Learnership is intended for receptionists, secretaries, administrative assistants, administrators, office managers and clerks, who have atleast a Grade 10 – 12 (Standard 8 to Matric) and have been working in an administrative role for 12 – 24 months.
The modules that are covered include:
• Team Management
• Event Management
• Document & Computer Management
• Business Numeracy
• Office Management
• Business Communication
Many Human Resource personnel have not been made aware of the full benefits and rewards for sending staff on RPL Learnerships. By acknowledging the value of learning in the workplace and by offering an RPL option, companies and learners benefit equally.
Learners that attend the RPL Learnership will experience personal growth, increased motivation, loyalty to the company and recognition for what he/she already knows. RPL has been seen by many organisations in South Africa as a cost and time-effective way to reach a clearer understanding of skills levels existing in acompany and to demonstrate positive investment in staff.
As CBM Training is a registered FET college, and this process leads to a qualification, investment in CBM’s RPL Learnership can form part of your company’s PIVOTAL (Professional, Vocational, Technical and Academic Learning) training and can be used in your company’s BBBEE Scorecard audit.
