International FET Conference draws near

False Bay College and College of Cape Town, in partnership with Haugaland Skole in Norway, are proud to host the 2nd North South VCET ICT Conference, to be held at the Spier Estate in Stellenbosch, Cape Town, from 9 – 11 October 2013.

Conference theme: Enhancing Classroom Performance Through Learning Technologies: E-learning Trends, Strategies and Applications.
The North South VCET ICT Conference is one of the largest gatherings of VCET (Vocational Continuing Education and Training) academics in Southern Africa, focusing on the enhancement and improvement of teaching, through the inclusion of technology into classroom teaching practices. Conference delegates will enjoy the unique opportunity to learn from and network with their colleagues and peers in the VCET (FET) sector.

The Deputy Minister of the Department of Higher Education and Training, Mr. Mduduzi Manana, will deliver the keynote address. The Minister will be speaking on: The implications of the Green Paper on Post School Education and Training and the creation of the post-school distance-educational landscape.

The guest speaker line-up includes: Arthur Goldstuck (World Wide Worx), Duncan Greaves (CEO, TENET) and Mark Neville (City of Cape Town, Broadband Initiative). We also have a strong international contingent, with presenters from Blackburn College (UK), Kendal College (UK), Koning Willem College (Netherlands) and Haugaland College (Norway).

Delegates will also hear from Trudi Van Wyk (Director of Open and Distance Learning from the DHET), who will elaborate on the initiatives the Department is currently undertaking with regards to Open and Distance Learning.

The Conference will also showcase various ICT related and E-learning initiatives within Public VCET (FET) Colleges.
