The new Policy for the Amended / Revised Senior Certificate for Adults was eventually published in the Government Gazette in mid-August 2014. Now Adult Education students are also required to write on the National Senior Certificate CAPS Curriculum being offered in high schools.
City Campus is offering the Revised Senior Certificate Course for Adults (with day, evening and Saturday class options). The current duration of the course is mid-September 2014 to June 2015.
The new Policy indicates the following adult learners may register for Revised Senior Certificate Course:
•Learners with incomplete Senior Certificates with Old Syllabus credits on Higher or Standard Grade
•Learners with National Senior Certificate New Syllabus Credits, whose School Based Assessment / Cumulative Assessment marks have expired (NSC 2008 to 2011)
•Adult learners (21 years and older) who have never written Senior Certificate examinations, who have passed a minimum of Grade 9.
Revised Senior Certificate external examinations (set by Department of Basic Education and administered by Western Cape Education Department) will be held for the first time in June 2015 and thereafter in June 2016, June 2017 etc.
