This course will introduce the small animal veterinarian to echocardiography, including where this modality fits into the evaluation of heart disease. It will commence with the advantages and disadvantages, then it will cover equipment such as machines, probes and tables. It will then explain the echo procedure, basic restraint requirements and basic echocardiographic principles, such as imaging planes/views and measurements. Moreover, anatomical and functional information obtained in B mode and M mode will be explained.
