Copy editing for electronic publications

In a changing editing marketplace freelance editors and copy-editors have to update and develop their HTML capabilities in order to stay relevant. This course takes you through the basic stages of HTML tagging in order to develop a fully-functioning, HTML compatible document. The outcomes of this course will be the knowledge and understanding of a basic HTML structure, the use of HTML tags to develop and mark up content and the capacity for further self-study of needed.

Learning Outcomes:
The content for this course is based on the undergraduate content for both copy-editing and digital publishing modules, combined in order to deliver a full overview to participants who have had little to no contact with the HTML language or digital platforms. The structure and content of this course empowers participants to continue with further self-study in similar mark-up languages such as XML if needed and offers a strong basis and practical skills that can be applied directly to the new marketplace. This course is presented as an on-going editorial project to provide practical guidance for editors having to work with publications intended for the digital environment.
