An introductory course in puppy training for individuals (veterinary nurses, receptionists, dog trainers, veterinarians) associated with veterinary practices who have no prior experience of working with puppies. Delegates learn about the basics of dogs including domestication, breeds, anatomical terms, behaviour, how dogs learn and practical handling and training skills. They are exposed to puppy classes for the first time in a supportive learning environment. The importance of puppy training in preventing and treating behavioural problems in dogs is increasingly confirmed by current studies on the development of behaviour in dogs. The course is aimed at people interested in offering a puppy school service. These services are usually (preferably) linked to veterinary practices but may be offered independently.
