Programme in Environmental Management (Blended)

The Programme in Environmental Management is an 11-week, blended learning (i.e. online supported, as well as face-to-face) programme designed to provide you with an in-depth understanding of environmental management during socio-economic development. For sustainable economic and social development, environmental sustainability is brought about in two phases: (1) the environmentally sustainable design of new economic and social developments; and (2) the enforcement of the provisions of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) of 1998 on development projects that have been approved and implemented. Typically, this includes performing an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for a proposed development and design of an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) to minimise environmental impact and/ or the audit of the EMP that has been authorised for implementation for a specific development (including the administrative and criminal instruments for rectifying deviations from the EMP).

The programme gives a detailed but well-rounded understanding of the wide range of pertinent environmental and associated issues relevant to a company involved in development projects subject to existing environmental legislation.
