What is this course all about?
Losing a client or having to stop training an athlete due to injury can be avoided. An injury not only results in interruption of training and regression of current conditioning levels but it can also mean loss of a client, which in turn results in loss of income. Injury prevention is a hot topic. Professionals in the field of fitness often lack knowledge in common injuries, identifying a possible predisposition to an injury and how to go about preventing the development of an injury. You could be one of the few, who could market yourself as an Injury Prevention Specialist as this skill is under-development in the industry. This course includes knowledge and skill which can enhance your current service delivery.
Upon completion of this course you will have thorough knowledge and understanding of the effect of muscle imbalances, common upper and lower body injuries, the role of various professionals in injuries (who to refer to, and more importantly, what YOU CAN do), how to design an effective, individualised programme with the aim of preventing the development of an injury as well as execution of simple functional tests to adapt your programmes based on individual anatomical differences.
Please note: This course has been added to the Advanced Certificate in Exercise Science (Exercise Specialist) (NQF Level 6) syllabus as from 2016. If you completed the Advanced Certificate before 2016 you would not have covered this information.
