The purpose of the programme is to equip learners with essential skills required to lead others, manage effectively and achieve results through effective leadership and communication skills. The programme is helps both - newly appointed and practicing managers to transition as individuals, teams and as an organisation from current to desired states.


By the end of the programme, learners would be able to:

1. Recognise the roles and responsibilities of leadership and management; as well as the ability to influence others and achieve results

2. Evaluate leadership models, theories and styles to use in appropriate contexts and situations

  • McGregor’s X and Y theory: Perception, beliefs of leaders that serve to confirm assumptions
  • Blake and Mouton theory: A concern for production and a concern for people
  • Situation Leadership
  • Qualities and Traits of Leaders
  • Developing Trust in teams

Module 2: Change Management

· The 4 Stages of Change

· Symptoms of each of the stages

· Stimulus-Gap-Response Theory (Being Accountable and Taking Responsibility)

· Attitudes, Beliefs and Paradigms

· Risk or Catastrophe Analysis during any change process

· Focusing on what you can control and influence

Module 3: Enhancing Communication Skills in Teams

  • The Communication Process (Linear, Circular and Transactional Views)
  • 9 Components of Communication
  • Personality and Character
  • Listening Skills (Empathy and Understanding)
  • Being Open to Feedback

Method of Presentation: Facilitation, Course Manuals, Audio/ Visual presentations, individual assessments during modules, high level participation, group work, role plays, self reflection, theories and exercises, plans to transfer skills in job context.
