The Ergo Business Development Academy, EBDA, was launched in 2008 under the auspices of Ergo Mining. EBDA achieved independent financial sustainability in July 2013 and now trades as an independent, non-profit organisation and is entirely self-funding. We are legitimately governed by a registered trust and a representative board.
Our vision is to be the preferred technical skills and business development academy in South Africa.
We facilitate and host accredited technical learning interventions and business support services to meet the human and social capital requirements of all our key stakeholders, contributing to their growth, profitability and general upliftment.
We offer a comprehensive portfolio of accredited learning interventions and services.
We have dedicated staff committed to manage client, learner and management interfaces
We have a critical standards charter to ensure professionalism on all fronts
We are fully accredited with the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations as a skills development provider;
We are fully accredited with all of the major SETAs, are SABS certified and We are a fully accredited decentralised trade test centre for all of the engineering trades
At EBDA we offer many learnerships, skill programs and short courses in the following engineering trades:

Skills programmes and short courses are also offered in construction:

EBDA provides Adult Education and Training (AET) and is an accredited private TVET College. EBDA offers all relevant Nated subjects, allowing learners to complete their N-courses and apprenticeship through the same institution.
EBDA offers a Basic or Advanced Handyman Programme especially for unemployed and impoverished community beneficiaries.
We also offer engineering skills programmes for artisan aides and short courses tailor-made to our client’s requirements.

EBDA is an Engineering Council of South Africa accredited Lifting Machinery Entity and our services include compliance inspections, load-testing, maintenance, supply of equipment and certification.
Our metallurgy and minerals processing skills programmes and qualifications include:
- Adsorption of gold into activated carbon
- Crushing and screening
- Handling chemicals
- Milling chemicals
- Ore reception
- Thickening of slurry
All of EBDA’s learning programmes are underpinned by a wide range of soft skills training initiatives including entrepreneurial new venture creation training, leadership, management, life orientation and personal development programmes. We offer three fully accredited generic management programmes covering basic to advanced supervision, as well as a wide range of computer programmes.
Basic health and safety programmes including first aid, basic fire fighting and occupational health & safety representative training are available
EBDA offers educational support programmes in mathematics, science and accountancy in disadvantaged schools across Gauteng.
Workshops for teachers and educators are also held on a quarterly basis.
