AUDITING - HEALTH AND SAFETY

This outcomes based training program introduces and skills learners on International SHE Auditing practices (ISO 14000; OHSAS 18000 series and the SRA Integrated Series). Learners are given hands on skills needed to plan Audits; conduct Audits and Report on Audit findings. Step by step workshops and in-class activities are used to further reinforce the competencies of the learner.

Learner objectives:

STANDARDS AND PROCEDURES WRITING SKILL TRAINING

Learners will familiarize themselves with development of Standards and Procedures based on the \
International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) and National Safety Council (USA) criteria.

· Describe the importance of standards and procedures in a workplace
· Understand the guidelines needed to formulate internationally aligned standards and procedures
· Formulate standards and procedures for safety, health and environmental risks
· Align the standards and procedures to national and international statutory requirements

SUPERVISORS’ SAFETY TRAINING

(Inclusive of Advanced Health and Safety Training Course)

Learners will be able to apply safety, health and environmental principles and procedures in a workplace thereby contributing to a safe and healthy working environment. They will also be able to assist management with the Implementation of an integrated SHE management program in the workplace.

Learner objectives

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT (O.H.S ACT 85/1993) - Level 1 and Level 2+

This course focuses on the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85/1993.

Learner objectives
· Understand the elements of reasonably practicable within the framework of health and safety risks
· Understand the key requirements, duties and responsibilities of the employer and employee
· Understand legal compliance issues:

1 day - 50 sections only; 2 - 10 days - with site specific regulations

FIRST AID TRAINING - LEVEL 1

This course focuses on First Aid Techniques on most common ailments

Learner’s Objective
· Principles of First Aid & Safety
· Artificial Respiration
· Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
· Choking
· Bandages, wounds and Bleeding
· Shock, Fainting and Unconsciousness
· Fractures
· Burns
· Head and Spinal Injuries

FIRE CONTROL (LEGAL REQUIREMENT TRAINING)

This course focuses on the prevention and the control of fires at work

Learner objectives
· Understand the common causes of fires at work
· Understand the chemistry of fire and combustion
· Describe the classification of fires and identify associated fuel sources
· Understanding the types of extinguishing Mediums and select the appropriate medium during a fire
· Understand the techniques to apply when fighting a fire.
· Demonstrate the ability of using the available equipment (extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants, foam,
etc.)

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE (Evacuation Warden’s Training)

Learners will be able to demonstrate the basic knowledge and understanding of emergency preparedness and the responses needed to preserve life.

Learner’s Objectives
· Understand the different types of emergencies that may be encountered in the workplace
· Explain the purpose of warning, mandatory, statutory and informative signs
· Describe the effects that these emergencies in the workplace may have on worker health and
safety
· Understand the importance of emergency plans and the scope of such plans

Learners will learn to apply safety, health and environmental principles and procedures in a workplace to
contribute to safe and healthy working environment and to assist management in implementing
SHE management programs in the workplace.
