Course Outcomes
Upon completing this course, the participants should:
- be familiar with project management terminology, concepts, and definitions
- know the differences and similarities between PROJECT work and day-to-day work
- understand both PROJECT and PRODUCT lifecycles
- be familiar with relevant organisational structures appropriate to various project environments, with particular reference to Government Departments
- have an understanding of key project success and failure factors within their workplace
- be familiar with the basic project selection methods
- be able to compile a Project Proposal
- be able to compile a Project Charter
- be able to identify and prioritise project stakeholders
- be able to refine the project scope statement
- determine the approach for decomposing the work of the project to the required level of detail
- be able to apply key project management tools and formulate a Gantt chart, Work Breakdown Structure and budget
- know how to plan for project risk
- know how to plan quality into a project
- be familiar with project procurement within a government context, and how procurement affects deadlines
- Understand the basics of Earned Value Management as a project control method
- Know how to handle scope change
- know the key skills and processes to select and manage project teams
- be able to handle conflict on project teams
- be familiar with forms of power and motivation within project teams
- know the critical elements for effective project communication
- know the importance of successful project Closure
- have a broad overview of project management software
