The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) has, with immediate effect, revoked the Gauteng-wide circular refusing to accept manual UI-19 applications from clients.
The UI-19 is a form that verifies an employee's employment history, current status, salary, and the number of hours worked.
The UIF has also expressed regret for any inconvenience the circular may have caused customers, employers, and other stakeholders. Additionally, the Fund reassured clients that it would still accept manual UI-19 form submissions at all labour centres.
Clients have also been urged to submit their claims for unemployment, illness, maternity, and adoption benefits online at https://ufiling.labour.gov.za/uif/ as well. Employers can disclose their employees, including overseas staff, and pay monthly payments through uFiling.
Teboho Maruping, the UIF Commissioner, added that if and when the Fund decides to go entirely paperless, it will notify clients, employers, and other significant stakeholders.
When employees lose their jobs or are unable to work due to illness, maternity, adoption, or parental leave, the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) provides temporary relief. The dependents of a deceased contributor are also assisted by it.
The UIF bases the length of your eligibility for benefits on a credit system. You will receive one credit for every four days you put in at work. The length of time you will receive financial assistance from the fund depends on how many credits you have accumulated.
