The University of South Africa (Unisa) has announced that some students will receive an extended period to complete and submit their first assignment during the 2023 academic year.

Unisa says students who registered late for the 2023 academic year will be afforded the opportunity to submit their assignment 1 at a later date. The university explained the decision was made in terms of the institution's provisions regarding late registrations.

They said, “As per the institutional provision regarding late registrations, affected students will be accommodated with regard to assignment 1 submissions.”

The university encouraged students to submit their assignments as soon as possible.

Unisa warned students that they will not be provided with any further extensions for their assignments. They added that students who already submitted their first assignment will not receive the benefit of the extension.

No further extensions will be granted. This communication excludes students who have already submitted assignment 1.

Unisa also announced they are paying special attention to the challenges facing students and staff due to the responsiveness of the myUnisa platform.

The university assured students that the matter is receiving priority attention. They apologised to students and staff for the inconvenience caused by the challenges.
