The Sasol bursary scheme aims to attract exceptional young talent to the organisation. Bursaries awarded are for full-time university studies in engineering, science and commerce disciplines. Upon successful completion of the study period, students may be employed within the Sasol Group through our Novice Professional Development Programme.
Committed to increasing South Africa’s critical skills base, Sasol runs one of the largest bursary schemes in Southern Africa. Its primary focus is to develop the country’s skills pool in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM).
The scheme is comprehensive and boasts an all-inclusive package which includes registration and tuition fees, accommodation, pocket money, and allowance for books and meals. Sasol bursars are also rewarded for academic excellence during their studies and vacation work (with a paid salary). Upon completion of their studies, the bursars have an opportunity to be employed at Sasol through the company’s graduate development programme.

The Sasol bursary programme currently has 607 undergraduates and post-graduate bursars studying at top South African tertiary institutions across the country. The company awards bursaries to learners studying towards a B.Eng degree in either chemical, mechanical, civil, electric, electronic, industrial, mining and computer engineering, as well as chemistry, geology metallurgy and accounting.
Do I Qualify?
In order to qualify for a Sasol Bursary to study a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or a Bachelor of Science (BSc), a Grade 12 learner must have the following marks:
Mathematics - level 7
Physical Science - level 6
English - level 5
In order to qualify for a Sasol Bursary to study a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), a Grade 12 learner will need to following marks:
Mathematics - level 5
English - level 5
Any bursary awarded by Sasol is subject to the condition that your end of year results in Grade 12 do not differ drastically from your results during the application.
