The deadline for students enrolled at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges to apply for funding from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has arrived. Students have just hours left to submit their bursary application to be considered for funding.
The 2023 NSFAS Trimester 2 application period opened on 5 May 2023 and will close on Monday, 22 May 2023. This gave students just more than two weeks to submit and application.
Students who miss the application deadline will have to wait for alternative application periods to apply for funding.
NSFAS encouraged students to ensure they have completed the entire application process. This is because many students created a profile but failed to complete their applications.
It is important to remind new applicants to finish the application process before submission rather than just creating a profile and considering themselves to have applied.
How To Apply For NSFAS Funding
Step 1: Visit the NSFAS website
Step 2: Click on the “myNSFAS” tab
Step 3: Create a myNSFAS account
Step 4: Click on the “APPLY” tab and complete the sections on the screen
Step 5: Upload all the required documents for NSFAS applications.
Step 6: Click on “Submit” to complete your NSFAS application.
Students can apply for funding online via the NSFAS website, NSFAS head office and at their TVET college bursary office.

There are 50 TVET colleges in South Africa with more than 300 campuses around South Africa offering a wide range of programmes. These programmes are designed to provide students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to secure employment or explore entrepreneurial opportunities.
TVET college courses funded by NSFAS include selected engineering, business, hospitality, information and technology, safety in society, transport and logistics, marketing, finance, office administration, and business and utility courses.
NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries to TVET college students enrolled in approved courses. These comprehensive bursaries will cover a student's tuition and registration as well as provide the student with an accommodation allowance, living allowance and personal care allowance.
Students who live near the college campuses may receive a transport allowance instead of an accommodation allowance.
