The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has begun disbursing social grants for June 2024. Over the next week, approximately 18 million South Africans will receive their monthly grant payments.
Permanent Grants distributed by Sassa include Older Persons pension grants, Disability grants, War Veterans grants, Care Dependency grants, Foster Child grants, Child Support grants, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.
Grant Payment Schedule
Beneficiaries will receive their grants according to the following schedule:
- Older Persons Grant - 4 June 2024
- Disability Grants - 5 June 2024
- Children's Grants - 6 June 2024
Receiving Your Grant
Beneficiaries have the option to choose how they receive their grants. They can have them electronically deposited into their bank accounts for secure access. Alternatively, they can withdraw their grants in cash at ATMs, Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, or Boxer stores.
Sassa advises beneficiaries not to feel pressured to withdraw their grants immediately, as the funds will remain secure in their bank accounts after deposit.

The following breakdown details the grant amounts for June 2024:
- Older Persons grant: R2,180
- Older Persons (75 years and older): R2,200
- Disability grant: R2,180
- War Veterans grant: R2,200
- Care Dependency grant: R2,180
- Foster Care grant: R1,180
- Child Support grant: R530
- Child Support grant (Top-up): R530 + R250
