Millions of financially vulnerable individuals rely on social grants to survive every month. The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has commenced the distribution of social grants for July 2024, benefiting approximately 19 million people.

Types of Grants Distributed by Sassa

Sassa provides several types of permanent grants, including the Older Persons pension grants, Disability grants, War Veterans grants, Care Dependency grants, Foster Child grants, Child Support grants, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.

Sassa Grant Payment Dates for July 2024

The payment schedule for July 2024 is as follows:

  • Older Persons Grant: 2 July 2024
  • Disability Grants: 3 July 2024
  • Children's Grants: 4 July 2024

Options for Receiving Sassa Grants

Beneficiaries can receive their grants in two ways:

  1. Bank Account Deposit: The preferred option, ensuring the money remains safe in the account until needed.
  2. Cash Collection: Available at ATMs and various retail stores, including Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, and Boxer.

Grant Amounts for July 2024

The grant amounts for July 2024 are as follows:

  • Older Persons (under 75 years): R2,180
  • Older Persons (75 years and older): R2,200
  • Disability, War Veterans, and Care Dependency Grants: R2,180
  • Foster Care Grant: R1,180
  • Child Support Grant: R530
  • Child Support Grant with Top-Up: R780 (R530 standard grant + R250 top-up)

Future Grant Increases

Sassa grants are scheduled for another increase in October 2024. Beneficiaries are encouraged to use their funds wisely and not rush to withdraw cash immediately, as the money will remain in their accounts until needed
