Millions of South Africans rely on grants from the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa). However, any errors in the contact details provided by applicants could prevent people from receiving their money.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has called on individuals to ensure they provide their contact details correctly when applying for grants. This as Sassa uses the information applicants provide to communicate with grant recipients.

Sassa explained,“When applying for any social grant, kindly provide your correct contact details such as email address and cell phone number to enable Sassa to communicate better and easy with you.”

When applicants apply for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, they are required to provide their contact details. This includes providing their cell phone numbers and email addresses. These details are used by Sassa to communicate with grant applicants and inform them when their money is available.

It's important to note that SRD grant recipients can update their contact details at any time. This as some grant recipients may not be using the cell phone number they used when applying for the grant.
