Applications for the 2025 Second Chance Matric Programme (SCMP) are now open. The programme aims to help students prepare for matric exams and meet the requirements for a National Senior Certificate (NSC) or Senior Certificate (SC).
Registration Period
The registration for the 2025 SC/NSC May/June exams opened on 1 October 2024 and will close on 7 February 2025.
The Department of Basic Education (DBE) offers comprehensive support through the SCMP, including face-to-face classes, online resources, and broadcasts on TV and radio. Participants also receive free resource packs to assist in their exam preparation.
How to Apply
Learners can apply by visiting a district office with an ID, statement of results, or matric certificate. Those who left school before matric must bring their school reports.
Online registration is available at www.eservices.gov.za for Senior Certificate candidates, or learners can visit any Department of Basic Education office.
Participation in the SCMP does not automatically register learners for the exams. Exam and rewrite registrations must be completed separately.
Additional Matric Exam Resources
Learners are encouraged to prepare adequately for the matric exams.
The Careers Portal provides resources including matric past papers, dedicated to making the matric year easier for grade 12s.
You'll be able to find everything you need from matric rewrite information, matric results, study guides, matric past exam papers, matric timetables, tips, advice and more.
These resources can assist both Senior Certificate and National Senior Certificate candidates.
