The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is in the final stages of processing school admission applications for the 2025 academic year.
As schools finalize their admission lists, parents whose children are on waiting lists are encouraged to remain patient. There's a possibility of vacancies arising as offered placements may not be accepted by all pupils.
With regards to Grade 1 and Grade 8 applications, schools are currently finalising their admission lists, confirming placements for children on their waiting lists. This process is ongoing.
To ensure accurate enrollment numbers, schools are confirming which pupils will be attending in 2025. Any unfilled places will then be offered to pupils on the waiting list.
"We do, however, appeal to all parents and caregivers who have not yet applied for Grade 1 and Grade 8 for the 2025 school year, to do so immediately. They can contact their district office or call 0861 819 919 for more information," said the Western Cape Education Department.
Parents who haven't submitted an application for their child's 2025 schooling are urged to contact their nearest WCED district office for assistance. For added convenience, schools can also help with capturing admission applications, although this doesn't guarantee placement at that specific school.
For general inquiries, parents can call the WCED admission office at 0861 819 919 between 7:30 AM and 5 PM.
Families who have recently relocated to the Western Cape can seek assistance with school admissions by contacting their local district education office.
