The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has assured recipients of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R350 grant that they will be paid. However, this is dependent on whether the grant recipients still qualify for the R350 grant after Sassa changed the qualifying criteria.

Sassa said, “If your status is approved and you have a payment date, your options have expanded to collect funds at merchant/retail outlets.”
If you still qualify for the grant, and you are approved for payment, you can collect your R350 grant at a Checkers, Usave, Shoprite, Pick N Pay or Boxer store

Sassa has reminded clients that when going to collect their R350 grants, they must have their ID document and the cellphone with access to the number they used to apply for the R350 grant. This is because a withdrawal confirmation message will be sent to this number which was used in the application process.
Sassa said, “All applicants for the Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress grant are encouraged to update their details on the system, to have the grant paid into their own personal bank account, as this is the safest way in which to receive the funds.”
Clients are reminded not to go to the post office as they will not pay you your R350 grant.
