The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R350 grant serves as a crucial relief measure for millions of unemployed South Africans. However, recently clients who receive their grants through the Postbank service have not been able to use their money.

The Postbank has resolved the technical difficulties that prevented clients from making transactions with their Postbank cards.

“All stakeholders are advised that the technical difficulties that affected customers' ability to perform transactions have been resolved and the system is now fully operational,” said the Postbank.

The Postbank has reminded R350 grant receipts that they can only access their money at retailers and not at the Post Office.

They said, “Postbank wishes to notify the public again that SRD R350 beneficiaries can only access their SRD R350 grant monies via their nearby Pick n Pay, Boxer, Checkers, Shoprite and Usave stores. The SA Post Office branches no longer make SRD R350 grants payments.”

Last week the Postbank said they were experiencing unforeseen technical difficulties which prevented clients from using their Postbank cards. Only clients who used their Postbank Sassa gold card were not affected by the outage.

They explained that the technical difficulties were caused by a power outage in one of their data centres. This outage impacted clients’ ability to access services at ATM’s retail merchants and in-branch transactions.
