The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) has launched a new online system which will make applying for a UIF compliance certificate easier.
Through the newly launched e-Compliance Certificate system, employers, small businesses and entrepreneurs will be able to apply for a compliance certificate without leaving home.
The system has been online and ready to use from 1 February 2021. UIF clients can visit uifcompliance.labour.gov.za  or www.labour.gov.za and click on “UIF e-Compliance Certificate” under the “Online Systems” tab to register and apply.
“It is all systems go. As the UIF, we will continue embracing technology to improve our services to our clients. Service delivery will be enhanced with the launch of the e-Compliance Certificate system because of the faster turnaround times for applications." said Advocate Mzie Yawa, UIF Head of Corporate Services.
“Companies and entrepreneurs will also be able to apply for potential business opportunities faster, including government tenders, as the UIF compliance certificate is often one of the requirements for doing business with the government,” said Yawa.
The new system will have benefits including:

Better turnaround times - certificates will now be issued within minutes instead of 10 working days through the manual process
Fewer human errors and fraudulent activities through the online process4
Better employer compliance with UIF legislation
Improved process of debt collection
Compliance certificates will be authenticated
Cutting down on printing and photocopying costs
Clients can duplicate certificates on the system if they happen to lose the original

Yawa has encouraged all small businesses, companies and entrepreneurs to register on the online system by using their UIF reference number to apply for the compliance certificate.
“If you are up to date with your UIF compliance requirements, the system will issue you with a compliance certificate immediately, which you can download or print. If you are not compliant, the system will issue a non-compliance letter with reasons for the rejection,” said Yawa.
