While most young people are fortunate enough to pursue their education at universities and colleges, some are not as lucky as they find themselves searching for employment straight after school.
The most recent announcement by the Department of Higher Education plans to help these young people on their journey.
In a statement, the Department of Higher Education announced:
Young people who could not get a place of study are urged to visit the SA Youth website to create a profile and submit their application for job opportunities.
This website is data free, which is beneficial for individuals that are sometimes hindered to look for employment opportunities due to the financial implications that come with the job hunt.
Creating a profile takes approximately four minutes. As part of this, applicants will be required to use the postal code for where they live and also their South African identity number for citizens, permanent residents, and refugees, or a valid work permit for foreign nationals.
By completing the registration, the information will be submitted to the SA Youth, Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator and Tshepo 1Million networks.
On the other hand, Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) has introduced the iWIL service as an initiative to promote the development of a credible and appropriate source of information that can be used by industry to place learners/students/graduates for Workplace Based Learning (WPBL).
This is a move made by the government to make sure that it responds to the calls to support unemployed graduates and also lessen the burden of unemployment.
