SASSA has been pleading with previous beneficiaries of the R350 grant to collect their payments before the end of the month.  More than 45 000 beneficiaries have outstanding payments and over 500 000 grants remain uncollected from post offices across the country.

"With regards to previous grant benefits. Outstanding payments are in the region of 45 414 (transactions) from approved but unable to trace applicants or they did not contact SASSA to update their personal details. A total of 571 724 grants approved remain uncollected at SAPO." said SASSA.

Approved beneficiaries have until 31 August to collect their grant payments, as SASSA will no longer be processing payments from past cycles after this date. Beneficiaries can call SASSA on 0800 601 011 or 012 400 2000 to verify if they have any outstanding balances that need to be collected.

This new deadline for outstanding grants follows SASSA's recent reinstatement of the R350 grant, which opened applications on 6 August. The new cycle of the grant will require all old applicants to reapply in order to be considered.

SASSA will also be considering cancelled applications from applicants who applied in previous cycles.   "Clients who previously cancelled the grant, and who would like to re-activate the grant, due to a change in their circumstances are welcome to re-apply #Covid19SRDGrant" said SASSA.
