Sassa typically processes SRD grant payments during the final week of each month, following the completion of verification checks. However, with the festive season approaching, Sassa has announced adjustments to the usual payment schedule.

It is important to note that Sassa does not process SRD grant payments on weekends or public holidays.

November and December 2024 Payment Dates

For November 2024, SRD grant payments for approved beneficiaries will be processed between 25 November 2024 and 30 November 2024.

For December 2024, due to the festive season—including Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day—payments will be made earlier than usual. Sassa spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi has confirmed that SRD grants will be paid to approved beneficiaries between 17 December 2024 and 23 December 2024.

Checking Your SRD Payment Status

To avoid confusion or delays, beneficiaries are encouraged to check their SRD grant status online. By visiting the official SRD website and completing a status check, recipients can determine the exact date their grant will be deposited into their bank accounts.

Grant recipients are advised to stay informed and verify their payment status regularly to ensure they remain eligible and their payments are processed on time.

How SRD Grant Applications Are Verified

Applicants must meet specific criteria to qualify for the SRD grant. Here’s a breakdown of the verification process:

When applying for an SRD grant, provide their details such as your ID number, name, and surname, which will be sent to the Department of Home Affairs for validation.

In the next step, applicants’ ID numbers are checked against various databases. These include the South African Revenue Services (SARS), Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), and National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) to assess your financial situation.

Both your ID number and mobile number undergo a fraud risk scoring process to verify the legitimacy of your application.

After all these checks are completed, Sassa will evaluate your application and decide whether to approve or deny the SRD grant application.

By staying proactive and checking their status, beneficiaries can avoid potential issues and ensure they receive their SRD payments on time.
