Provincial Education Departments (PED) implement government policies, frameworks, and guidelines on education.
Parents and caregivers residing within a specific province are required to submit school applications on behalf of their children during the admission application period set by the PEDs.
It is important that parents always keep their eyes open to be able to know when each Education Department will allowing to submit school admission applications for their children.
Here Are 2024 School Admissions Application Timeliness In Different Provinces:
Gauteng
The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) announced that the 2024 online application period for grades one and eight will open on 15 June until 14 July.
KwaZulu-Natal
The KwaZulu-Natal Education Department officially opened the 2024 school admissions applications for Grade 1 and Grade 8 on 12 April 2023, and will close on 30 September 2023.
Limpopo
The Limpopo Department of Education wants to ensure every child of school going-age is in a school on the first day of the 2024 school year. To achieve this, the department opened its admission applications on 15 May 2023, and the application period will close on 30 September 2023.
North West
The North West Department of Education opened its learner school admission applications cycle for public schools on 15 May 2023, and this application cycle will remain open until 30 September 2023.
Northern Cape
The Northern Cape Department of Education opened its 2024 Online Learner Admissions system on 22 May 2023 and the online system will be open until 22 June 2023 for Grade R, Grade 1, and Grade 8 admission applications.
Western Cape
The school admission application period in the Western Cape has already closed.
The Eastern Cape, Free State, and Mpumalanga are the only PEDs who are yet to confirm their admission application deadlines for the 2024 school year.
