The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) provides the R350 grant, which serves as a valuable lifeline for many of the country’s people who are unable to make ends meet.

If you have previously applied for the R350 grant and had your application rejected it is likely that you have lodged an appeal to your application.

It is equally important to familiarise yourself with how to keep track of your appeal status and this can be done using the steps listed below:

How To Check Your Appeal Status For The SRD Grant

It is important to check your appeal status regularly to make sure that your appeal has not been lost. You must do the following to check your appeal status

Should you encounter any challenges in doing this, Sassa has advised beneficiaries to contact its call centre on 0800 601 011. The agency also emphasised the importance of ensuring that you provide a valid cellphone number, as this is how Sassa will inform you about the outcome of your appeal via SMS.

Considering that Sassa administers the R350 SRD grant digitally, you may have to wait a maximum of three months before receiving feedback regarding the outcome of your appeal. This is because Sassa processes large volumes of appeals at a time. However, your R350 grant payment will be made from the date on which you submitted your application.

R350 grant application appeals are usually rejected if beneficiaries fail to meet its eligibility requirements. This is often the case if Sassa finds that an applicant has alternative sources of income, such as UIF payments or a bursary.

R350 grant appeals are finalised by the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA). Applicants who are satisfied with the outcome of their appeal can also approach the high court for judicial review within 180 days of receiving the ITSAA’s decision.
