Phase 5 applications officially closed on 9 May 2025. Shortlisted candidates should begin preparing the necessary documents, which will be requested by schools during the next stage of the process.
The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has confirmed that interviews and contract finalisation will take place between 19 May and 31 May 2025.
Shortlisted applicants will receive an SMS from their school or Provincial Education Department (PED), inviting them to attend an interview.
The SMS will be sent by schools between 19 and 26 May 2025.
Applicants who are invited to an interview must submit several documents to the schools or education departments.

It is important to note that matric is not required for several assistant positions.
This government initiative has already created more than one million temporary jobs since its inception. Phase 5 alone will provide over 200,000 job opportunities.
Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R4,000 for a period of six months, along with R30 for data. Read more here.
