Western Cape School Admissions 2025 Application Results Coming Soon

The application window for Western Cape schools in 2025 has closed, leaving many parents across the province eagerly awaiting offer announcements. This year saw a record number of applications, so stay tuned for updates on the Western Cape Education Department's (WCED) offer release date.

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is gearing up for student placement after receiving a record number of applications for Grade 1 and 8 admissions in 2025. A total of 102 680 applications were submitted, representing a significant increase of over 5 900 compared to last year.

The WCED thanks parents who applied on time as this helps with efficient school planning for the next academic year. Schools now have time to review these applications – no certified hard copies are needed at this stage. Those will only be required if a school offers a place and it becomes your final choice.

WCED School Admission Applications Timeline

Application results for the 2025 school year will be available online starting on 30 May 2024. Parents will receive an electronic notification closer to the date.

Successful applicants will have until 14 June 2024 to accept or decline their offered school placement. The WCED encourages a prompt decision, especially if you have multiple offers. Holding onto several offers can delay placements for other waiting students.

If you don't choose by 14 June, the system will automatically assign your child to the highest-ranked school with an available spot. Remember, this will automatically decline any other offers you may have received.

Didn't Get Your Top Choice? Here's What to Do Next

The Education Department understands that not all applicants will receive their first-choice placement on 30 May.

As parents confirm their final choices, spots often open up in other schools. The WCED is committed to placing all students whose applications were submitted on time.

Late applications for Grades 1 and 8 are being accepted online until 12 May 2024. However, these will be processed after on-time applications.

If you recently moved to the Western Cape or missed the deadlines entirely, contact your district office as soon as possible. They can guide you through the application process and available options.

The WCED strongly encourages applying during the designated windows to avoid last-minute hurdles.

Want To Apply For Different Grades?
