The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has said that R350 grant payments will now be processed during the same month they are meant to be paid. While this will be welcomed relief for the grant’s beneficiaries, many are still waiting for old R350 grant payments.
Several clients have raised concerns about unpaid R350 grants for months when their grant applications were approved by Sassa. These relate to payments meant to be received by clients during the R350 grant payment cycle between December 2021 and March of 2022.
Sassa said outstanding grant payment for the period between December 2021 to March 2022 would have been paid in July 2022.
These late grant payments do not include the April and May R350 grant payments for 2022.
Sassa explained that these R350 grant payments could not be paid during the corresponding months as the Department of Social Development (DSD) worked to finalise a functional verification process.
The agency made April R350 grant payments during July while May R350 grant payments will be paid in August.
Sassa has reminded grant beneficiaries that they can collect their R350 grant payments at supermarkets around South Africa. These supermarkets include Shoprite, Boxer, Checkers, Usave and Pick N Pay stores.
