Have you got a Matric certificate but aren’t happy with the marks you achieved? Or did you not succeed in passing Matric at all? Want a second chance to improve your marks but don't know how to improve your Matric marks? Let’s take a look at one option for redoing Matric, designed by the Department of Basic Education.

Department of Basic Education announced their Second Chance Programme, designed to give Matric students who did not pass their exams and want the chance to redo the exams. The idea behind this programme is to meet “the goals of the NDP and the sector thus increasing learner retention”, for the benefit of the students and the future of the country.

Face to face classes will be available at 50 locations, primarily in rural and semi-rural areas around the country. On top of this, the Department of Education will be integrating technology into this programme to help students redo Matric:

  • Multimedia broadcasts on Dstv, Open View, YouTube and SABC 1
  • Digital resources such as their Facebook page and no data costs for Vodacom subscribers

Department of Basic Education encourages those who wrote their Matric exams after 2008 and want to redo their Matric to register as part-time candidates.
