Teaching Assistant Jobs 2025 – BEEI Programme Set To Return

The Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI), which forms part of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative, has been a widely successful programme offering thousands of young South Africans the opportunity to work as education and teaching assistants in public schools.

The most recent phase, Phase 4, concluded recently – and since then, there have been ongoing calls for the programme to return. Now, the Department of Basic Education has confirmed that new phases of the BEEI will be launched soon.

Not only does the BEEI programme provide vital work experience for youth interested in becoming teachers, but it also helps improve learning environments by supporting overworked teachers with additional classroom assistance.
