Although government funding for Higher Education has increased more than fivefold in recent years, funding for missing middle students remains a critical challenge and has sparked much debate in South Africa.


There is a high possibility that South Africans will spend their festive season enduring more load-shedding. Eskom's Chief of Operations says that the situation has been less than ideal despite their best efforts to keep the light on.


Earlier this year, the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) confirmed that a feasibility study for two new universities builds was being conducted.


South Africa has long been facing the challenge of youth unemployment, with studies showing that even South African university and college graduates are having a tough time finding employment. 


While this year's matric exams continue as normal for some candidates, others have faced disruptions, affecting their ability to write the exams. There have since been questions raised about what will happen to these candidates.

Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) exams have officially started. The examination will span over the month of November, with the first test beginning on the 1st of the month.

Higher Education, Science and Innovation Minister, Dr. Blade Nzimande, has disputed a newspaper's claims alleging that he requested to keep a Forensic Investigation Report on the National Skills Fund's (NSF) under wraps. 


Across the country hundreds of thousands of young people recently entered Higher Education hoping to graduate in a few years so that they are qualified to enter the workplace.


Once a student graduates with a tertiary education qualification, they receive a certificate which indicates their achievement. However, students at some colleges have not received these crucial certificates.


Tertiary education plays a crucial role in training the next generation of professionals in several disciplines. However, the cost of tertiary education could stop many prospective students from gaining expertise in these industries.
