The Care Dependency Grant is distributed by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) to provide financial support to children with severe disabilities who require full time care. 
To qualify for the care dependency grant, the child must be younger than 18 years old with a severe disability and in need of special or full-time care. The child must also not be cared for by a state institution on a permanent basis. Beneficiaries are paid R1890 per month. 
The parent or primary caregiver may not earn more than R223 200 per year if you are single or more than R446 400 per year if you are married.
You will also need the following documentation when applying for the care dependency grant

Your Identification document and the child's birth certificate
Road to Health clinic card (If available)
School report (if available)
A medical report confirming the child's disability
Proof of marital status 
Salary slip and bank statements for the previous three months 

If you are not the biological parent 

Proof that you are the primary caregiver (avidvate, social workers report or a letter from the principal of the school the child is attending may all be used)
Proof you have tried to get the biological parents to pay maintenance 
If you are a refugee foster parent, a refugee status permit and refugee ID  of the child’s foster parent, the court order placing the child in your care may be required

The grant will lapse in the following circumstances: when the child turns 19, if the child is admitted to a state institution or leaves the country, if the grant is not claimed for three months or if the child dies.
