More than 13 million people have applied for the special Covid-19 R350 Social Relief of Distress(SRD) grant. Of these SRD grant applications more than 8.3 million grants have been approved.
The purpose of the grant is to provide South Africans with relief during a time when jobs are scarce and poverty in the country is rife. People eligible to qualify for the SRD grant can apply using a number of different methods.

Step 1. Send a WhatsApp message to 082 046 8553
Step 2. Applicants will be asked to provide their personal details prompted in the chat.
Step 3. You will then receive a reference number, One Time Pin (OTP number) and a website link you can click on.
Step 4. Click on the link.
Step 5. Insert the OTP number.
Step 6. Click Verify.
Step 7. Provide your ID number and your surname.
Step 8. Applicants will be asked to confirm their details as per the details provided in the chat.
Step 9. Read terms and conditions. You can then agree to the terms and conditions.
Remember, to qualify for the special Covid-19 SRD grant, applicants must not be receiving any other Covid-19 related support.
