Today you may find yourself in a job but who truly knows what tomorrow holds. The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) provides workers with short term financial relief should they find themselves unemployed or unable to work.

If you work for more than 24 hours per month, you are required by law to make contributions to the UIF. The amount that is contributed equals 1 percent of your gross monthly income. This is deducted from your salary while a further 1 percent is contributed by your employer.

How To Register For The UIF

Here's a short guide on how to register for the uif as an employer online

  1. Ensure you have the relevant information from all the employers and workers. This information includes names, Identification Numbers, and address
  2. Choose the type of employer. (Domestic or Commercial)
  3. Get the UI-8 and UI-19 for business employers or the UI-8D and UI-19 for domestic employers from the UIF’s website
  4. Complete the forms (employers must complete the forms on behalf on themselves and their workers)
  5. E-mail the forms to the UIF at [email protected] .
