What is UIF TERS?
When the Covid-19 pandemic began in South Africa, the government placed the country under a National State of Disaster. People were ordered to stay home in an effort to slow down the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
This directive also resulted in businesses and employees left without a way to generate income. The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) introduced the Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) to provide short term relief to workers who were unable to work during the pandemic.
It is estimated that the UIF has already paid out more than R63 billion in TERS relief to workers around the country. However, not everyone has received their money.
