How To Upload Documents For Illness Benefits Using uFiling

The Unemployment Insurance Fund has now made it easier for clients to upload supporting documents when applying for Illness Benefits. Keep reading to find out how to upload your supporting documents online in a few simple steps.

The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) is a government-managed fund that provides short-term financial assistance to those who have lost their jobs or have been unable to work due to illness, maternity leave or other reasons. The fund is managed by the Department of Employment and Labour and is funded by contributions from employers and employees.

The UIF aims to provide income support to workers during times of economic hardship and help them to get back into the workforce.

If you are a UIF client, you can now upload all the required supporting documents online. You can also complete the entire application online as long as you have access to a device with internet connection.

How To Upload Supporting Documents

  1. Open your web browser and visit the uFiling website.
  2. Log into your uFiling profile.
  3. Apply for Illness Benefits until your application is successfully submitted.
  4. After you have submitted your application, download the Medical Certificate and Leave Income form.
  5. A claimant must completed the adoption order and the employer must complete the Leave Income form.
  6. After you have completed and signed the forms, save them as a PDF.
  7. Click on 'application history'.
  8. Click on 'upload documents' and select the signed and completed forms from your device.
  9. Once you have successfully uploaded them, click on 'submit documents'.

  11. Click on 'finish' and wait for feedback.

Please note that your employer must declare your termination of employment to the UIF. If declarations are not updated, this will result in a delay in your claims process.

You must upload a UI.19 form only after the Assessor has parked your claim.

You can regularly check the status of your declaration on uFiling.

The UIF plays an important role in supporting the country's social and economic development by providing financial support to unemployed individuals, supporting job creation and reducing poverty and the burden on the healthcare system.
